Commenting on student migration in particular, Lord Green said:
Student migration is a success story for the government. The days of nearly a thousand bogus colleges are over and the exit checks show that students are now very largely leaving when they should. This does not affect the net migration totals but it does reduce the contribution of students. Meanwhile, applications for British universities are up 5% on last year and 20% on 2010. This is good news for the Home Office but perhaps a headache for the statisticians.
