Curbing Immigration<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Sir,<\/p>\n

I am most grateful for your generous
\nendorsement of Migrationwatch in today\u2019s editorial (\u201cLabour has no
\nright to lecture on immigration<\/a>\u201d).<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, we must recognize that many are shell shocked by the pace of
\nchange in our society, now underscored by the census results.  Integrating
\nthe nearly three million immigrants who have arrived in the last ten years will
\nbe vital to the harmony of our society but this cannot be achieved unless the
\ninflows are brought under control.<\/p>\n

That is why, in our view, David Cameron\u2019s historic pledge was – and is \u2013 of
\ncentral importance.   By setting a clear objective he has given
\ndirection and coherence to immigration policy.   We now project that
\nhe has a fighting chance of achieving it, provided that he sticks to his guns.
\nSpecial interest groups will, of course, continue to fight their corners but
\nthe public interest in getting immigration under control is surely
\noverwhelming.<\/p>\n
