British IT workers are losing out on job opportunities because overseas workers are able to enter the UK through a “gaping loophole”, a migration lobby group will warn today.

Thousands of migrants from outside the EU have entered Britain under a visa allowing multinational companies to transfer staff from overseas for training or to fill a specific vacancy that could not be staffed by a British worker.

A report by Migration Watch UK, which campaigns for lower immigration, warns that the visa route is being used by companies that obtain contracts from businesses or public sector organisations and fulfil them by bringing a workforce from another country.
