Two brothers, both doctors, are joint owners of a London house where 35 men were found sleeping on mattresses after a raid by police and council officials.

Sunil Hathi, who owns the property with his brother Neil and mother Meenaxi, threatened legal action against Brent council for referring to him as a rogue landlord, saying he was oblivious to conditions at the property.

Mr Hathi said that he was shocked to discover that the three-bedroom house in Brent, northwest London, had been raided after complaints of overcrowding by neighbours.

Bare mattresses lined each of its three bedrooms, the kitchen and every other room except the bathrooms. There was even a gazebo on a patio with a mattress inside.
