Sir, That the two contenders for prime minister take the challenges posed by Beijing seriously is positive but they have focused on the wrong issue (“Sunak and Truss accuse each other of going soft on China”, Jul 25). Rishi Sunak is right to articulate his key thoughts on China. But they merely summarise what should have been done by the Johnson administration, of which both he and Liz Truss were senior members. Instead of accusing the other of going soft on China, each needs to articulate a clear China strategy.
