The death of an Iraqi Kurdish woman who suffered hypothermia and a miscarriage after crossing the Belarusian-Polish border in freezing temperatures has prompted an investigation by Polish prosecutors.
Despite a number of similar deaths, some migrants are continuing to brave the crossing from Belarus.
Avin Ifran Zahir, 38, was found severely dehydrated and with a body temperature of 27C after spending a week in the forest, first in Belarus and then Poland. “The woman was screaming with pain,” said Fundacja Dialog, a charity that took care of the family.
