An illegal Albanian immigrant who became one of London's biggest drug kingpins is facing jail after police found £1.1million of cocaine in his house.

Muhamet Qosja, 29, stored five kilo blocks of cocaine, a handgun and 20 rounds of ammunition in bags under a child's cot at his house in Ilford, east London.

Another six kilos of cocaine and drugs paraphernalia was found in laundry bags.

Qosja - who stored the drugs before distributing them to street dealers - bragged to officers that he sneaked into Britain illegally in 2014 and decided to deal drugs because it 'paid well'.

Undercover agents tailed Qosja in his car through east London before surrounding him with unmarked vehicles.

National Crime Agency officers searched his car and found £23,000 in a compartment behind the dashboard.

Qosja appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court where prosecutors said the street value of the cocaine was £1.1million.

He pleaded guilty to six charges relating to possessing the firearm, ammunition, and possession with intent to supply cocaine and money laundering.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony O'Sullivan said: 'Qosja was illegally in the UK and was actively distributing class A drugs on behalf of an organised crime group.

'A proactive investigation meant his illegal career was stopped and he now faces a custodial sentence.'

He was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on January 29, 2021.
