A 15-year old girl is believed to have fled Hong Kong to Britain, the youngest person so far to seek asylum from the Beijing government’s crackdown on the territory.

The girl, known as Aurora, applied for asylum on arrival in London last week after reporting that she was being followed in Hong Kong, apparently by plain clothes police or officials of the security services, according to the Apple Daily newspaper.

She told the Hong Kong-based paper: “If I stay in Hong Kong, it will only be more and more dangerous for me. It’s like I’m waiting for my death. I don’t know when police will decide to prosecute me.”
